Hey, Welcome to shoptalk.
Today's topic: Confidence
For years I've had the awesome opportunity to work in a industry I absolutely love, Cosmetology.
I love doing hair, but over the years my passion has shifted to
not only loving hair but loving women. Their emotional, and spiritual well being has captivated me.
I guess I realize their emotional and spiritual state ties directly into healthy hair.
IFWhen my clients come in for their appointments they always look forward to our discussions about life and their walk with the LORD.
So here you'll find candid conversations mixed with a walk with Jesus. Enjoy!
Often friends and family share with me how jealous they are that I get to do what I love. To be honest I never looked at it from their perspective. I simply decided that doing hair was what I wanted to do and went after it. Little did I know some 20 years later I would still be here. Having styled enumerable clients over the years. I am still amazed after hours of standing behind a client working tirelessly to achieve the desired style, I still end up with the same results.
I hand them the mirror only to end up watching them as they briefly glance their new do, and instantly find something negative to focus on, Whether it be something on their face, skin, nose, or their body to complain about. They end up with a complaint. Often I have to redirect them.
Then without fail they simply say, oh, I like my style.
But that thing.......(thing that catches their eye) stands out. Huhhhhh!!!
After years of having this happen I began to seek GOD for why. I was floored at his response. In a lot of cases women see themselves in a different light than the Father sees them. Primarily because they have spent more time looking into their physical mirror versus the spiritual mirror. This behavior always results in you seeing yourself opposite from the way GOD sees you.
He sees you and I as fearfully and wonderfully made. I realize that we all may have encountered imperfections from time to time. it is understandable to see a zit on your face and be embarrassed by it's very existence. But I'm not talking about a zit, I'm talking about seeing yourself through the eyes of GOD. Seeing yourself as he sees you.
In the book of Ephesians it talks about Jesus being seated on the night hand of the Father . It goes on to say we are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That means that when you and I accepted the work of the cross we are adopted in the family of GOD. You are now a daughter of a king.
This is why it's important to see yourself through the rights lenses. The lenses of your Heavenly Father. When Jesus came to earth part of his assignment was to restore you and I daughter's of the King back to our position.
Today see your self through the eyes of GOD.
Daughter's of the KING
There are times in life where you hear truth and believe it. Then there are the times you have have heard the lie so long you start to believe that as well. In my book The Pig that Wanted to be Kept/A pig's view of the Holy Spirit. I share my personal experience of feeling like I was too dirty for GOD to love me. This book has helped many accept the love of Christ and experience the love of GOD that never knew.
